Gunmen death spread terror in Pakistan. They shot dead 18 people trying to enter illegally into Iran using three cars.
"Gunmen on a motorcycle stopped their cars and forced them out with hands up. 18 people were killed and two wounded," said Mohammad Aslam Tarin, senior local government officials told AFP on Saturday (7 / 7/2012).
"The 20 people are trying to cross the border and wanted to enter Iran," said Tarin.
The incident occurred on Friday (6/7) late at night local time in Kechh district, about 1,250 kilometers southwest of Quetta, the main town in the troubled province of Baluchistan, near the Iranian border.
In that incident, the shooter got away.
"We are starting an investigation, but the motive for the attack remains unclear," said Tarin. They noted that officers had been sent to the site to remove the bodies of the victims were killed.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for this shooting. But usually, such attacks were allegedly carried out by a group of Baluch nationalists who continue to struggle to get a greater provincial autonomy.
Hundreds of civilians have been killed since the Baluch rebels took up arms against the central government of Pakistan in 2004. They are demanding political autonomy and a greater sharing of benefits from resources in the region. Baluchistan province is also the scene of sectarian violence between majority Sunni and minority citizens of the Shia.
